The 2012 Servant Leadership Academy (or
"Academy") will be held from July 3 - 20, 2012 in and around
Portland, Oregon, USA. The Academy will bring together over 25 students and staff from Kazakhstan, Ukraine,
and the USA.
The Academy helps students experience and participate in
real-life communities of servant leadership where people are able to find their voice and where the excluded and powerless people of the world are impacted.
The Academy has historically made a great impact on the hearts
of students, as they see the love and lives of people living as
servant leaders and as they experience a community where they can
find their own voices and callings as a servant leaders.
The Academy will include a variety of intensive experiences with
different "communities of servant leadership," including: Intel
Corporation, First Fruits of Washington, AKT LLP, Warner
Pacific College, and Medical Teams International. Students
will also have the opportunity to get involved with some of these
communities as they practice service to others. The Academy will include
a variety of group activities to help students think more deeply about servant leadership
and the importance of community. Through all of these experiences, the Academy will focus on two general
themes: 1) Servant leaders build communities that help people to find their voice; and 2) Servant
leaders change the world.
The 2012 Academy will be based at Good Shepherd Community Church,
where students will meet regularly to consider what they are
learning. This year, the Academy will also spend five days in
the Bend, Oregon area and be hosted by people in that community. Co-Serve staff will be actively involved as mentors throughout the Academy and students will
live with carefully selected host families.

Please help us fill in the leaves of the "Academy
Sponsor Tree" and turn the leaves from RED to GREEN. We are
looking for 40 people that can give gifts ranging from $50 to $3,000
in support of the 2012 Academy and the expected 25 students from
Kazakhstan and Ukraine that will attend. If we can find
sponsors to fill in all of the leaves in the tree below, we will
raise the $15,000 that we need to operate the 2012 Academy. We
are starting to make progress! We are so thankful for those
that have already given, reflected by the GREEN leaves in the tree.
Please consider sponsoring the Academy and turn a leaf from RED to
